'1 V O / s There will, of course, be those who claim the Shawville United Church cannot be 138 years old since it was less than fifty years ago, in 1925, that the tTilted Church In Canada was formed and the Shawville Methodist Church became the Shawville United Church, But the anniversary is a commemoration of the inauguration of the Clarendon Mission had been a circuit of the E Bo n ne c he re Mission including Clarendon, Bristol, Pakenham, Fltzroy, McNab and Horton. In 1828, it is reported, visits were made here to a society of Methodists of about 40 although the roads a were so bad It was im- M possible to use a horse ¦ except in winter. It was in 1834 that Rev James Burney took over the Clarendon Mission which eventually became the present Shawville Church. Original location of services was probably a log building in Le n nie Workmart field and later a church was built at the upper end of town in the present cemetery across from St. Paul's Anglican Church. The boy was found in Shawville. The Quebec Police also found the young girl listed as lost last week. She was found in Otter Lake. On Thunday there was a collision in Wyman on Highway 8 between Daniel Turgeon of Gatineau who was injured and Mrs Helen Martineau of Quyon who was not injured. On Saturday they investigated a fight at Poisson's Hotel, In Campbell's Bay. On Sunday tne Quebec Police were engaged in rerouting traffic destined Pembroke around by Portage du Fort on account of a collapse of the hig-way in Ontario. Also on Sunday the Police investigated a head on collision on the Fifth Line of Clarendon near Shawville involving the Lennon Thomases and Carl Beck. If these are not appointed or elected the government will appoint members. This board is to be set up by October 1, 1972 and will be concerned with every public or private health or social service establishment in the area under a new set of regulations. If a nuinbr of responsible citizens in Pontiac would make themselves familiar with Bill 65 now, we would all benefit later. Starting July 1, 1973, all health and social services in Quebec will be under new management. According to Bill 65 new councils of administration are to be set up. Second annual Litter Chase The second annual Litter Chase came off successfully in Shawville on Satura dy with the help of a lot of youngsters and many local organizations. Judgii of the participants, their equipment and their collections of litter was done by Mayor Or la Young, Alistair Macintosh, lot Bradley and Own Hill. The Ladies Auxiliary of the Guide Movement and the Scout and Cub Mothers prepared lunch for the ^chasers" and Mrs Eva Andai recorded the event for posterity through photos. Keith Harris completed the project by picking up and taking to the dump the 65 bags of litter the children gathered through Shawville. Garbage bags, food for e workers, and prizes for participants were provided by tne W.A. At the meeting of April 11 last, the chairman oi the Community’s Executive Committee, Mr H. Léon Leblanc, stated that it was urgent that the plant in question to serve Buckingham, Masson and the adjoining municipalities constructed without further delay; he mentioned the fact that the project has been under discussion since over two years. The chaiman of the Executive Committee also emphasized the fact that the Community" had not spared its efforts" to supply the population of Buckingham, Masson and surrounding municipalities with filtered water. The citizens of Hull have been supplied for some months now by a modern Community treatment plant, situated at Park Mousse tie in Hull, on the shore of the Outaouais river. These plans shall have to be submitted for the approval of the Quebec Water Board. At its meeting of April 20, the Outaouais Regional Community's Executive Committee unanimously voted in favor of this decision, following the order issued by the Board on March 13. The Executive Committee's resolution stipulates that the consulting engineers whose services have been retained, mist take the plans, reports and ' specifications already in tne Community's possession Into account. They must grant the ORC the required credits, based on the value of the documents in question. Darlene will always be remembered with love by her parents, sisters and brother, I^ianne, Cathy, Cheryl, Colleen, Sandy, Gayle and Charles Oiucky showed patience and kindness towards Darlene throughout her illness.
