Last week too, the Liberals declared in the National Assembly that all government advertising should be forbidden during the period of an election; and that Quebec provincial parties should be forbidden to help their federal counterparts. It has also been reported that the Quebec Liberals will vote against Bill 72 this week, on the subject of the basis to be used in establishing which members of the public service are to be held to be contributing essential services during a strike. The Liberal position is that the right to strike should be selectively abolished in the public service. On the subject of election reform, which most importantly includes a plan to switch to a system of proportional representation, Marc-Andre Bedard, minister of state for election reform, has stated that the entire plan will be scrapped unless it is supported by the Liberal members of the National Assembly as well as by members on the government In search of Québécois Nessie’s cousin Another $44 million is to be New Deli in Shawville nt he paid for the spent on renovations to the National Assembly buildings over the next seven years. NATIONAL CONSULTATION 60878B2JN16 NOTICE m The annual general meeting of the Pontiac Community Hospital will be held at the Anglican Church Hall In Shawville Wednesday, June 28 at 8 p.m. It waa a cold January afternoon in downtown Toronto. A raw wind sent eddies of enow scurrying down frozen sidewalks. On Queen's Park Crescent students from the University of Toronto hurried to catch red-and-silver buses headed north on Avenue Road. No one was paying much attention to the flock of sparrows that landed near the bus stop. Everyone had seen sparrows before. But this flock of sparrows was different: one bird not a sparrow. One was blue and white with a sharp tail and a hooked beak. He was a budgie, although he dearly thought he was a sparrow like the others. He hopped with them and picked food off the sidewalk just as they did. If someone came too dose, he joined the others and flew away. Somehow he had become lost and would likely never be found. 1 Somewhere, in some high-rise apartment complex there had once been a family that fed him and cared for him. But one day the little bird had found an open window and had flown through. Moments later he turned to see a thousand windows and a thousand balconies, all the same. He knew where he belonged but he was lost and could never find his way home. He finally flew down to the streets below where he found the sparrows who had always lived there. They knew nothing of homes where birds are loved and fed and in time, the budgie began to forget. The day came when he no longer remembered that he was special. As far as he knew he waa just another sparrow without a home. Jesus once said, “The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost”. Sometimes there are lost people who are like the budgie—they don't even know they are lost. They know nothing of a heavenly Father or of belonging to the, family of God. But unlike the budgie they have Someone who has come looking for them. And one day, if they want to, they will be found.
